We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to strengthen the DevOps competence in our team of proud nerds, working on our Weather API - the centralized access point to petabytes of global weather data!
As part of our API team, you will shape, develop and maintain the Weather API, ensuring trouble-free operation and access for our global customers.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and operate the Weather API as a member of a cross-functional scrum team.
- Analyze business needs and develop well fitting solutions.
- Actively shape operational best practices (especially monitoring) and strengthen the according knowledge within your team.
- Improve the existing procedures to scale our Weather API to more customers and new markets.
- Proudly take part in keeping the Weather API online 24/7 as an on-call duty officer.
Your qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT or Systems Engineering or a related field, and/or relevant certifications and qualifications
- 3 – 5 years experience in developing and operating high-volume back-end systems (required)
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills
- In-depth experience with bare metal Linux servers, containerization (e.g. Docker) and service orchestration (e.g. Nomad)
- Ability to create and realize strategies for improving the operation of our system in close collaboration with the development team. (incl. requirements engineering, designing solutions, risk management, step-wise migration, ...)
- Openness to select the right solution for the problem regardless whether it's still a bare metal server or a stateless micro service running in a cloud.
- Expertise in monitoring and CI/CD (e.g. GitLab)
- Professional experience in Python, Linux and Bash
- Ideally, some C++ knowledge or openness to learn it
- Swiss/EU citizenship or work permit is mandatory
