As 100 million Google Search results per year show, weather belongs to the top 5 Keywords being searched on Google in 2021. And there is a good reason for this! Weather can have a huge impact on all of our lives, both personally and professionally, so this is why, here at Meteomatics, we focus on processing and providing the most accurate weather data, and weather intelligence tools to improve our clients’ business across the world for all kind of industries.

But why stop there? Better weather forecasting needs even more accurate data sources. Thus, we developed our own weather drones, called Meteodrones, to collect missing data from the lower atmosphere and we are the first company to fly a network of weather drones operationally

Now, let`s talk about you… 

To support our drone development team in their endeavours for advancing the quality of weather forecasting, we are looking for an experienced Python software developer with focus on UAV control for our office in St. Gallen. 

Your responsibilities

• Development of software for the Meteodrone and Meteobase
• Programming of control software and graphical user interfaces
• Further development and quality control of existing software solutions for drone control and data analysis
• Testing, debugging and deployment of software (SIL, HIL and real world)
• Software support of flight operations

Your qualifications

• University or ETH degree (Bachelor / Master) in an engineering field or in informatics or related field or alternatively professional work experience
• Good knowledge of the Python programming language
• Experiences in the area of hardware control with Python would be an asset
• Key words like unit tests, integration tests, and continuous integration are not unknown or alternatively the willingness exists to learn these concepts
• Experience with drones or robots would be an asset
• Very good sense of responsibility and independent work
