We are looking for a drone enthusiast specialized in electronic or electrical engineering to support our meteorological drone-development team
Almost all branches in industry are directly or indirectly subjected to weather. Meteomatics is a private Swiss weather company based in St. Gallen / Switzerland with subsidiaries in Berlin / Germany and Exeter / UK. We support big and small, national and international companies with our world leading technology and high-quality weather data. In addition, we set milestones in improving weather forecasts worldwide with our own in-house developed Meteodrones.
To support our drone development team in their endeavours for advancing the quality of weather forecasting, we are looking for an experienced electronic or electrical engineer with focus on PCB design for our office in St. Gallen.
Your responsibilities
- Conceptualization and development of micro-/electronic components for UAV systems
- Development of digital and analogue circuitry (PCBs) in the area of embedded systems, and the implementation and verification of feasibility of solutions
- Manufacturing of components and assembly of prototypes
- Project support from conceptualization to PCB development, layout, initial operation and quality management, until series production
Your qualifications
- Applied university degree in an engineering subject with focus on micro-/electronics, electrical engineering or a comparable training
- Very experienced in using PCB design programs (Eagle, KiCad, or similar)
- Experienced in manual pick-and-place of PCBs (soldering, reflow-soldering)
- Knowledge in embedded programming (C/C++, Python)
- Experience in 2D and 3D CAD design (e.g. Solidworks)
- Knowledge in UAV development and UAV components – hard- and software
- Professional work experience would be an asset
- Flight experience with multi copter UAVs is of advantage
- Very good sense of responsibility and independent work
- Flexible and able to perform within a team under pressure of deadlines
- Willingness to pioneer and fundamentally change the way weather forecasting is done
